State Road 121 (SR 121) is a major state highway that runs north and south in northern Florida. The road is part of a long multi-state route that also goes through Georgia and South Carolina. Route description SR 121 is one of the major routes of a three-state highway 121 that totals approximately 475 miles (764 km) from Lebanon Station, Florida, to Rock Hill, South Carolina. Beginning in Lebanon Station at a channelized intersection with US 19/ US 98 and County Road 336 (CR 336) in Levy County, SR 121 travels through Goethe State Forest where it turns east and intersects CR 337. The road makes a sharp left curve to the northeast where it travels through desolate farmland; the only resemblance to a major intersection is CR 326. Crystal River 3 Nuclear Power Plant
The Crystal River Nuclear Plant also called the Crystal River 3 Nuclear Power Plant, or simply CR-3, is a closed nuclear power plant located in Crystal River, Florida. The facility is currently being decommissioned and is transitioning to a SAFSTOR condition. The power plant was completed and licensed to operate in December 1976, and operated safely for 33 years until shutdown in September 2009. It was the third plant built as part of the Crystal River Energy Complex (CREC) which contains a single nuclear power plant, while sharing the site with four operational fossil fuel power plants. The Seaboard Coast Line Railroad was a Class I railroad company operating in the Southeastern United States beginning in 1967. Its passenger operations were taken over by Amtrak in 1971. Brooker Subdivision
The Brooker Subdivision is a railroad line owned by CSX Transportation in Florida. The line runs from the CSX S Line (the Wildwood Subdivision) at Wannee Junction in Starke to Newberry for a total of 39.6 miles. At its north end it continues south from the Wildwood Subdivision and at its south end it junctions at a wye with the Florida Northern Railroad (the former West Coast Subdivision). History The Brooker Subdivision from Starke to Hainesworth (just west of LaCrosse) was originally built from 1863 to 1894 by the Atlantic, Suwannee River and Gulf Railway, which would eventually run in its entirety from Starke east to Wannee (which is why the junction with the Wildwood Subdivision is still known as Wannee Junction). LaCrosse is a town in Alachua County, Florida, north of Gainesville. As of the 2010 census, the town population was 360, up from 143 in 2000. 34th Street Wall
The 34th Street Wall is a 1,120-foot-long retaining wall along SW 34th Street (Florida State Road 121) in Gainesville, Florida. It was constructed in 1979 by the Florida Department of Transportation to prevent erosion on the adjoining University of Florida golf course when the road was widened from two to four lanes, necessitating cutting through a small hill. The otherwise nondescript poured concrete wall is notable for being almost entirely covered by graffiti, and it has served as an sort of ever-changing bulletin board for the Gainesville community since the 1980s. State Road 24 (SR 24) is an east–west state highway that runs between Cedar Key on the Gulf of Mexico and Waldo, Florida, at US 301. State Road 24 runs along a former branch of the Seaboard Air Line Railroad. Florida State Road 331
State Road 331 (SR 331) is a short state highway running south and east of Gainesville, although it once stretched as far south as Williston. It also serves as a truck route for State Roads 24, 26, and 121 and US 441. Despite skirting the Gainesville City Limits, SR 331 runs north and south as a four-lane divided rural highway. Route description SR 331 begins at SR 121 east of Interstate 75 (I-75) at exit 382, when SR 121 makes a sharp left turn from Southwest Williston Road onto Southwest 34th Street.
